Lance Cpl. Richie L. Chavis, from Wounded Warrior East, packs his pack with archery equipment during and archery competition at the 2012 Marine Corps Trials at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 18. Chavis is from Lumberton, N.C., and was wounded in Afghanistan in 2010. Chavis is one of approximately 300 wounded, ill and injured competing in the Marine Corps Trials. The Marine Corps Trials is a USMC Wounded Warrior Regiment hosted event in which approximately 300 wounded, ill or injured Marines compete for a spot on the 50-athlete, All-Marine team roster. The selected athletes will go on to compete in the Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo., April 30 – May 6.
