Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Andres Chaviz directs a tractor onto Landing Craft Unit 1627. The craft brought supplies and Marines from 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to shore after departing the forward-deployed amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown. Marines from 31st MEU, embarked with ships from the Essex Amphibious Ready Group, began Cobra Gold 2012, a multinational exercise hosted annually by the Kingdom of Thailand. Germantown, with embarked elements of the 31st MEU, is currently underway in support of Cobra Gold 2012.
