    A U.S. Army ophthalmologist prepares a lens after removing a cataract from a citizen of Zanzibar, Tanzania. The lens replaces the cataract to restore the vision of a patient blinded by cataracts. This cataract surgery was used during Medical Readiness and Training Exercise, a U.S. Army Africa exercise that improves the relationship with host nation medical providers and provides free medical services to local citizens in need of treatment.
