STARBASE Los Alamitos rocketry team member Gina Rodeghiero, 13, a seventh grader from La Habra, sets up a laser cutter before cutting the team's custom-designed rocket fins out of aircraft-grade plywood, March 13, 2019, at Build It Workspace in Los Alamitos, California, as owner Mark Lengsfeld supervises. Team members designed and tested the fins on a computer using rocket simulation software before taking the designs to be cut. The team is making final design changes before scheduling their Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) competition qualifying launches. STARBASE Los Alamitos, which is located at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, is one of two DoD STARBASE campuses facilitated by the California Military Department's Youth and Community Programs Task Force. The program focuses on inspiring youth to further explore science, technology, engineering and math. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Senior Airman Crystal Housman)
