(GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba) - Joint Task Force Troopers with the Maritime Security Detachment prepare their gear for water survival recertification, February 22, 2019. This certification must be completed by all members of the United States Coast Guard every six-months. The Troopers are tested in multiple events which includes a 75 meter swim, two minutes of treading water and one minute of drown proofing. Once this portion is complete teams manually inflate their Tactical Flotation Devices and link up to leave the water together. The final test of the recertification involved Troopers removing their combat gear either manually or with rip cords. The purpose of this training is to ensure that these Troopers can survive in the water in and out of combat. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Jaccob Hearn)
