U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Van McCarty, the adjutant general for South Carolina, and Kim Stenson, South Carolina Emergency Management Division director, along with state emergency response team representatives held a joint news conference to remind people that severe storms, tornadoes, and flash floods are significant hazards in South Carolina and people need to take the proper safety precautions. The news conference was in support of South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster proclaiming that South Carolina Severe Weather and Flood Safety Week for 2019 will be observed March 11-16.
