Brig. Gen. Mark W. Palzer (center), commander, 143rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, and Command Sgt. Maj. Jeffrey E. Uhlig (right), the 143rd command sergeant major, discuss the Silver Scimitar exercise during their visit, Jan. 29. The two-week annual exercise is the only one of its size for human resources soldiers to get in-depth training on all facets of human resources operations from company to theater level. Palzer and Uhlig arrived at the start of week two, a scenario-driven event overseen by observer controllers who insert every kind of incident soldiers will face when deployed.
