U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Haley Mathers receives the non-commissioned officer bloodstripe from Sgt. Maj. Robin Fortner at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Virginia on March 8, 2019. Mathers was meritoriously promoted and was pinned by two women she admires - her mother, Dr. Linda Hale, and Fortner, the Marine Corps Systems Command sergeant major. As a tribute to 101 years of women serving in the Marine Corps, the ceremony was held in front of a replica of the Molly Marine statue, the first monument of a female in a service uniform and tribute to the first female Marines.
