A self-propelled artillery piece, consistent with an M109 Paladin howitzer, is captured mid-fire on an open field during what appears to be a military training exercise. Large muzzle blast fireballs are visible on both sides of the barrel, indicating a recent discharge. The vehicle is painted in desert tan camouflage and is positioned on dry, dormant grassland with sparse trees in the background.

The Soldiers of the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, Arkansas National Guard, hosted their annual Civic Leader Appreciation Day at the Fort Chaffee Joint Maneuver Training Center near Barling, Arkansas, on March 2.

Civic leaders from across the state were in attendance. The leaders were met by the command and staff at the theatre on the installation, then flown via Blackhawk to the live fire exercise demonstration and static display site location. The brigade launched a barrage of rounds from the M109A6 Paladin howitzers and several rockets from their Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS).
