    Marines and Sailors of CLB-31 and BLT 1/4 train to be Combat Life Savers

    Petty Officer 3rd Class FMF Franciszek Maga and Petty Officer 3rd Class FMF Tonye Peters, line corpsmen with Alpha Company, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, the “China Marines,” demonstrate identifying signs and symptoms of shock to Marines of BLT 1/4 and Combat Logistics Battalion 31 during a Combat Life Savers Course aboard the USS Ashland, East China Sea, Feb. 11, 2019. Maga, a native of Orange, California, graduated from Villa Park High School in May 2013 before enlisting in September that same year. Peters, a native of Auburn, Alabama, graduated from Auburn High School in May 2015 before enlisting in July that same year. Alpha Company Marines are the small boat raid specialists for BLT 1/4, the Ground Combat Element for the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. CLB-31 provides security, logistics, and transportation as the Logistics Combat Element for the 31st MEU. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU partnering with the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
