In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Program Analyst in the Civil Works Branch Justina Vantassel spearheaded and District Council Shivaun White got the opportunity for a hands on lesson on the Japanese tradition of Origami making May 15.. The class was part of Spirit Week, dedicating a day to each of the different cultures of the Asian Pacific American heritage. The goal of Origami is to transform a flat square sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques.
