Canadian Brigadier-General (retired) M.P. Jorgensen is interviewed by Fairbanks, Alaska, reporters about his memories of the crash of a Royal Canadian Air Force C-130 aircraft 30 years ago on Fort Wainwright. Jorgensen, then a captain, was injured in the crash that took the lives of nine Canadian service members who were taking part in the combined exercise Brim Frost on Jan. 29, 1989. Jorgensen returned to Fort Wainwright Feb. 5, 2019, his first visit since the crash, to speak at a ceremony honoring the Canadians at the post’s Alert Holding Area. He thanked the Fairbanks community for the strong show of support he received while recuperating from his injuries in 1989, and said the city holds a special place in his heart.
