Canadian Brigadier-General (retired) M.P. Jorgensen (left) thanks retired Command Sgt. Maj. T.C. Coon for his actions responding to the crash of a Royal Canadian Air Force C-130 aircraft 30 years ago on Fort Wainwright. Jorgensen, then a captain, was injured in the crash that took the lives of nine Canadian service members who were taking part in the combined exercise Brim Frost on Jan. 29, 1989. Coon, then the brigade command sergeant major for 2nd Brigade, 6th Infantry Division (Light), was one of the first responders to the crash site. The two had never met before Jorgensen returned to Fort Wainwright Feb. 5, 2019, his first visit since the crash, to speak at a ceremony honoring the Canadians at the post’s Alert Holding Area.
