Senior Airman Porter Elliott, 8th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (EAMS) crew chief, prepares a pitch trim actuator for installation in a C-17 Globemaster III Dec. 18, 2018, at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. This is the first time a maintenance procedure like this has been done in U.S. Air Forces Central Command’s area of responsibility. Due to safety concerns, Airmen from the 8th EAMS and 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron combined capabilities to ensure the aircraft could be repaired prior to returning to home station.
