Marines drive a P-19 aircraft rescue firefighting vehicle to a simulated training exercise during Ryukyu Warrior 12 on Ie Shima Dec. 6. The truck contains its own pressure pumps and firefighting equipment, including water, foam and Halon 1211, carried in tanks built into the truck’s body. Ryukyu Warrior is an annual Marine Air Command and Control Systems training exercise which gives squadrons and agencies within 1st Marine Aircraft Wing the opportunity to be involved in group-simulated exercises. The firefighting exercise allowed aircraft rescue firefighters with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172 to practice extricating a victim from a vehicle. MWSS-172 is a part of Marine Wing Support Group 17, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
