Another tool in AWC's tool box is a metabolic test. Health Promotion Technician Mary McDonald conducts conducts one to measure the number of calories the client's body needs to maintain its current weight over a 24-hour period of rest. When the assessment is completed, the client will receive a result form that provides his/her daily estimated calorie needs based on their resting metabolic rate, lifestyle, and exercise. This test is particularly beneficial to clients looking to make changes to their body composition, since it allows them to make adjustments to their current dietary habits to reduce or add calories to their diet.
