181105-N-XT039-2023 VACAPES (Nov. 5, 2018) Fire Controlmen assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) upload dummy ammunition into the MK-15 Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) Phalanx. USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) cruiser-destroyer (CRUDES) units are completing the first East Coast CRUDES SWATT exercise. SWATT is led by the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) and is designed to increase warfighting proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of participating units.
