180926-N-VQ790-0039 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Sept. 26, 2018) Lt. Ruth Cortes, the guest speaker during the Hispanic heritage ceremony, shares her experience joining the military. The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a four-year project performed once during an aircraft carriers life-cycle that includes refueling of the ship's two nuclear reactors, repairs, upgrades and modernization.
