Sandra (Sandy) Shalin, environmental resource specialist with her 1977 Toyota, Celica named Thumper. In 1978 her grandparents drove from the East Coast to the Pacific Northwest to bring her this car, so that she could drive it to the Walla Walla District for her first day of work. Sandy was one of the 15 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District employees who participated in the “Wheels to Work” day, on October 19, 2018, in Walla Walla, Washington.
