The image shows a rural agricultural scene with a narrow raised earthen path running through harvested fields. Several civilians in traditional South/Central Asian dress are present alongside what appear to be military personnel in camouflage uniforms in the background. A motorcycle, a cow, and arid mountainous terrain in the background are also visible.

Marines with 2nd Platoon, Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, conduct patrols through the area. Until recently insurgent fighters operating in the area controlled the district with relative impunity until the outset of Operation Eastern storm, in which the Marines of 1/6 surged into the area during battalion-wide helicopter borne insertion aimed at forcing insurgents out of the area.
