(Sep. 21, 2018) Friends and family welcome home Sailors assigned to the Virginia-class, nuclear-powered, fast-attack submarine, USS California (SSN 781), after a regularly scheduled deployment. California returned to its homeport at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, Conn. California is returning from the European Command Area of Responsibility where they executed the Chief of Naval Operations’ Maritime Strategy in supporting national security interests and Maritime Security Operations.
