180919-N-UP035-0313 CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (Sep. 19, 2018) Marine Sgt. Raymond Mendicino, a crew chief assigned to the "Black Knights" of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 264 (Reinforced) embarked aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), unloads supplies from the back of a CH-53E Super Stallion. U.S. Naval Forces Northern Command deployed Kearsarge, along with embarked elements of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Expeditionary Strike Group 2 command element, to be positioned to provide Defense Support to Civil Authorities from the sea in response to Hurricane Florence, should support be requested.
