A close-up, low-angle photograph of a stone sculpture depicting a human figure, likely a robed or cloaked person with short hair and downward-gazing expression. The figure has a notable hollow opening in the chest area, through which foliage is visible, suggesting an intentional artistic void. The statue is set outdoors among green deciduous trees.

A somber statue is the centerpiece to the Barbaka Forest memorial site. This site remembers those whom were victims of NAZI atrocities and buried in mass graves in Barbarka forest in the Barbary sector of Torun, Poland during WWII. Annually, this memorial takes place to perhaps help survivors and relatives find some peace while vowing to never again allow such heinous acts as these to occur. Soldiers from 1st Battalion 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division were the first American Soldiers to participate in this annual event.
