WILMINGTON, Calif. (Aug. 31, 2018) Sailors assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105), the Avenger-class mine countermeasure ship USS Scout (MCM 8) and the Royal Canadian Navy take a group photo with Los Angeles Commissioner Lucia Moreno-Linares and the Director of Community Partnerships and Resource Development for the Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley Pilar Diaz at the Wilmington Welcome Reception during Los Angeles Fleet Week (LAFW). LAFW is an opportunity for the American public to meet their Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard teams and experience America's sea services. During fleet week, service members participate in various community service events, showcase capabilities and equipment to the community, and enjoy the hospitality of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas.
