The image depicts a surgical procedure being performed by at least two medical professionals in an operating room setting. The surgeons are wearing standard surgical attire including gowns, gloves, masks, and caps, with one surgeon equipped with a headlamp for additional illumination. Surgical instruments and visible tissue/blood indicate an active operative procedure is underway.

U.S. Army Maj. Steven Overholser, left, a Urologist assigned to the Womack Army Medical Center, Ft. Bragg, N.C., work alongside his counterpart, Dr. Alphonse Marie Sibomana, a Urologist, while performing surgery during MEDRETE 18-5 at the Rwanda Military Hospital, Kigali, Rwanda, Aug. 22, 2018. MEDRETE 18-5 is the first combined effort for a medical readiness training exercise between the Rwandan government and U.S. Army Africa. The exercise is part of a series of medical readiness training that U.S. Army Africa is scheduled to facilitate within various countries in Africa, and serves as an opportunity for the partnered militaries to hone and strengthen their general surgery and trauma skills while reinforcing the partnership between the countries.
