OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea – Marlon Butler and Rafael Sosa, reliability engineer and senior systems analyst, respectively, supporting the U.S. Army Air and Missile Research Development and Engineering Center, instruct PV2 Kennady Labarbara, PV2 Luis Baez, Jr., and PV2 Liam Boorman, Patriot air defense system operators/maintainers from 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 35th ADA Brigade, on a technology upgrade that allows operators to determine if a missile container has experienced a damaging shock event. A team from USAAMRDEC spent two weeks in July installing digital shock event sensors to Patriot missile containers in the inventory of 6-52 ADA Bn. With a push of a button, the sensors will tell Soldiers if the container has experienced an impact beyond a specified threshold which would make the missile unreliable to be fired. (Photo by Pfc.
