NAVAL AMPHIBIOUS BASE CORONADO – (July 11, 2018) Chief Gunner’s Mate Douglas Wheeler of Shelton, Wash., the leading chief petty officer assigned to the Armory Division of the Naval Special Warfare Center, briefs educators/counselors from Central and South Texas on some of the types of weapons Navy SEALs utilize in combat operations during Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio’s Educators Orientation Visit (EOV) to San Diego. The EOV is a Navy Recruiting Command program with a main focus of showing educators the various facets of the Navy and the many career paths available to students. Additionally, the group visited Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN FIVE (HSM-75) at Naval Air Station North Island, BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL) Training and Assault Craft Unit ONE (ACU-1) at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, Navy Medical Center San Diego, and the Los Angeles-class submarine, USS Annapolis (SSN-760) at Naval Base Point Loma.
