180710-N-XT039-1208 PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (July 10, 2018) Chilean Navy Commodore Pablo Niemann, combined forces maritime component commander for the 2018 Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, middle, and his staff accompany Rear Adm. Cedric Pringle, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 3, second from the left, and Australian Navy Commodore Ivan Ingham, commander, Combined Task Force (CTF) 176, second from right, on a tour of a landing craft air cushion (LCAC) and the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) during a ship’s tour. Twenty-five nations, 46 ships, five submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 27 to Aug. 2 in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world’s largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security of the world’s oceans.
