Milestone MQ-8C Fire Scout Initial Operational Test and Evaluation Complete

180621-N-XP203-1001 PACIFIC OCEAN (June 21, 2018) – A MQ-8C Fire Scout is chained to the flight deck of the Independence variant littoral combat ship USS Coronado (LCS 4). The MQ-8C Fire Scout is the Navy’s newest unmanned helicopter and has increased speed, a higher ceiling, over twice the fuel endurance, and an improved payload capacity compared to earlier versions. LCS is a high-speed, agile, shallow draft, mission-focused surface combatant designed for operations in the littoral environment, yet fully capable of open ocean operations. As part of the surface fleet, LCS has the ability to counter and outpace evolving threats independently or within a network of surface combatants. (U.S. Navy photo by Ens. Jalen Robinson/RELEASED)
