DAHLGREN, Va. - Dr. Tony Buhr, senior Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) biologist, measures reagents for spore preparations in a biosafety cabinet at the NSWCDD Biosafety Level 2 Laboratory in this undated photo. Buhr received the 2017 Dr. Delores M. Etter Top Scientists and Engineers Award for Individual Engineers at a June 29, 2018 Pentagon ceremony in recognition of his contributions to the Navy's chemical, biological and radiological defense. Specifically, he was honored for his work in developing a new and highly reliable testing regimen for evaluating effectiveness in biological defenses, increasing the confidence level of those defenses up to 95 percent.
