Three U.S. Navy sailors in dress white uniforms are performing a military funeral flag-folding ceremony over a silver casket at what appears to be an American military cemetery overseas. A white Latin cross grave marker is visible in the foreground, and rows of white grave markers are visible in the background. A podium bearing the seal of the American Battle Monuments Commission is visible behind the casket.

NORMANDY, France (June 19, 2018) The U.S. Naval Hospital Naples honor guard holds the American flag over the remains of Radioman 2nd Class Julius “Henry” Pieper during his funeral service at Normandy American Cemetery. Henry Pieper and his twin brother, Radioman 2nd Class Ludwig “Louie” Pieper, were both killed when their ship, Landing Ship Tank (LST) 523, struck an underwater mine off the coast of France on June 19, 1944. Louie’s remains were found immediately, but Henry’s remains weren’t identified until December 2017. The family requested that Henry be buried in Normandy next to his brother.
