U.S. Army Sgt. Alex Keehn, a unmanned aerial system operator with the Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota National Guard, and a native of Rochester, Minn., controls “Shadow,” a UAS during a mission on Aug. 25 at Forward Operating Base Sharana. Keehn’s unit deployed in July to augment the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Task Force Duke, UAS team. Shadow offers commanders intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
