Tri Phu, a maintainer with the Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade, 34th Infantry Division, Minnesota National Guard, and a native of Farmington, Minn., attaches a net designed to catch “Shadow,” an unmanned aerial system, at Forward Operating Base Sharana Aug. 24. Phu's National Guard Unit deployed to Afghanistan in July and is augmenting the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, TF Duke's, UAS team. The Shadow offers commanders intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities.
