U.S. Army Spc. Brent Garlic hustles back on defense during a preliminary round wheelchair basketball game against Team Marine Corps June 4, 2018, at the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Cadet Center Gymnasium during the 2018 Department of Defense Warrior Games. Garlic was designated the “Heart of the Team,” for Team Army. The DoD Warrior Games were conducted from June 1 – 9. It is an adaptive sports competition for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. Approximately 300 athletes representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Special Operations Command, United Kingdom Armed Forces, Canadian Armed Forces, and the Australian Defence Force competed in archery, cycling, track, field, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball, powerlifting and indoor rowing.
