Texas Guardsmen from El Paso's 3rd Battalion 133 Field Artillery Regiment support firearms safety at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, at the Comstock Border Patrol Station the Del Rio sector's only indoor weapons range. Deploying troops to assist and support CBP quickly impacts the mission each time a service member takes a non-enforcement position(s) where Agents, typically, get detailed off the line to do, such as fleet, maintenance and weapons ranges. The service members eliminate or reduce the number of Agents needed to perform the non-enforcement duties. Cpl. Joseph Alvarado keeps his eyes downrange with the CBP Firearms instructor, Border Patrol Agent Diaz Ascension to ensure a safe weapons qualification shoot for Border Patrol Agent Miguel Perez. Border Patrol Agents must qualify with their weapons quarterly, 16 May.
