Electronics Integrated Systems Mechanic Richard Wiencek gets ready to test the tracking capability of an AN/MPS-T1 Band Simulator System, I Band Pedestal by conducting rotational tests from the control van. Wiencek works in the C4ISR Directorate’s ATCALS/Range Threat Systems Division. Tobyhanna Army Depot has been performing programmed depot maintenance on the band simulator system for more than 15 years. It takes 12 employees nearly two years to repair the critical Air Force system. The band simulator system is managed by the System Program Office, Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The primary purpose of the radar set is to provide a realistic surface-to-air missile control radar environment, which can be used to train, test, and evaluate aircrew performance.
