U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Christopher Uriarte, pararescueman from the 31st Rescue Squadron out of Kadena Air Base, Japan and native of Stevensville, Montana, rappels from an HH-60 Pave Hawk assigned to the 33d Rescue Squadron out of Kadena Air Base, Japan during training at Clark Air Base, Pampanga, Philippines, May 16, 2018, during Exercise Balikatan. Shortly after returning to base, the HH-60 hovered over the landing zone while pararescuemen practiced skills, including rappelling, fast-roping and hoisting, to maintain their proficiency. Exercise Balikatan, in its 34th iteration, is an annual U.S.-Philippine military training exercise focused on a variety of missions, including humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, counterterrorism and other combined military operations held from May 7 to May 18.
