    II Marine Expeditionary Force

COMBAT OUTPOST SHIR GHAZAY, Helmand province, Afghanistan - Lance Cpl. Ronald Curaba, 20, a Coram, Long Island, N.Y. native and team leader with 81mm Mortar Platoon, 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, stands aboard Combat Outpost Shir Ghazi, July 25. The attack on September 11, 2001, inspired Curaba to join the Marine Corps and serve his country. “I’m doing finally doing my part,” Curaba said. “At the time I was too young to do anything about it, but I always wanted to. Now that I became of age and am out of high school and joined, I was able to fulfill that need in me, to give back for all the work that everyone else has done.”
