An outdoor educational event where an adult instructor is demonstrating tree or plant seedlings to a group of young children, likely elementary school age. A person in military camouflage uniform observes alongside adult chaperones. The setting appears to be a field on or near a military installation, with a freshly tilled row of soil visible for planting.

Forester James Kerkman shows how to plant a tree on April 27, 2018, with students and staff with the Child Development Center and others during the Fort McCoy, Wis., observance of Arbor Day. Dozens of adults and children from the Fort McCoy community participated in the installation’s 30th observance of Arbor Day with the planting of more than 400 trees on the cantonment area. The installation ceremony included not only the planting of 415 trees, but also the reading of the Arbor Day proclamation and the presentation of the installation’s 29th consecutive Tree City USA award.
