Cpl. Van Luong, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 13 flight equipment technician, secures a dry suit to a testing bed before filling it up with 35 gallons of water and checking for leaks in the paraloft at the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz., July 21, 2011. The dry suit is designed to keep pilots dry and warm regardless of their surrounding environment. Luong works in the Bravo shop of the paraloft, which is one of three sections that ensures station Harrier pilots’ gear is functioning correctly. Aside from the dry suit, the Bravo section also packs the seat pan, an emergency survival kit were the pilot to eject from a Harrier. In addition to 11 survival items, the kit even contains a one-man life raft, as well as an oxygen cylinder with approximately ten minutes of breathable air and a radio beacon which emits a signal for rescue.
