WALTER REED ARMY MEDICAL CENTER, WASHINGTON, District of Columbia -- Sgt. Stephen M. Smith, the armory maintenance chief for 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, begins to walk with his new prosthetic. Smith was injured by an improvised explosive device while in Ramadi, Iraq in 2006.
