A projected presentation slide at Fort McCoy promoting April awareness campaigns. The slide features four awareness ribbons representing different causes supported by multiple Fort McCoy programs including SHARP Team, Family Advocacy Program, Exceptional Family Member Program, and Army Substance Abuse Program. Flags are visible in the lower right corner of the room.

A special event was held April 11, 2018, to observe April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, Autism Awareness Month, Alcohol Awareness Month, and Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. It included morning and afternoon sessions with two guest speakers. This is a scene from the start of the observance in building 60 on post. One of the speakers was a survivor who, under request to remain anonymous, discussed her life experiences that covered all aspects of each monthly observance. She explained how she survived child abuse and sexual assault, dealt with autism, and overcame “self-medicating” herself by abusing alcohol. (U.S. Army Photo by Scott T.
