A .50-caliber machine gun fires rounds from a mount at a floating luminescent target on the port side of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Washington. USS George Washington is currently participating in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2011. Talisman Sabre is a bilateral exercise designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting combined task force operations in order to improve Australian and U.S. combat readiness and interoperability.
