PATROL BASE FAHEEM, Helmand province, Afghanistan - Cpl. Robert Dominguez, Jr., a team leader for 3rd Platoon, Company B, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, places the M16A4 service rifle as part of the battlefield memorial during the memorial service for Lance Cpl. The Marines of 1/5 paid tribute to the life, service and sacrifice of the improvised explosive device sweeper who was killed in action while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the Northern Sangin Green Zone, July 10. Known to most as Mendez, the 22-year-old graduate of Logan High School in Fullerton, Calif., leaves behind his wife and two children.
