Sgt. Ricky Beckles, right, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, receives the Bronze Star Medal with valor from Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael A. Loh, The Adjutant General, Colorado National Guard, April 11, 2018 on Fort Carson. Beckles was attached to the National Guard’s 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) on August 16, 2017, when he exposed himself repeated to heavy enemy fire to defend the evacuation of thirteen casualties. The 5th Bn., 19th SFG(A) is headquartered in Colorado.
