EAST CHINA SEA (April 9, 2018) An F-35B Lightning II aircraft sits on the flight deck aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) as the guided-missile destroyer USS Sterrett (DDG 104), left, is underway with Wasp as part of a coordinated formation with an amphibious transport dock ship from the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. The bilateral navigational maneuvers were conducted as part of an enduring commitment of both sea services to increase U.S.-Japan naval interoperability.
