Two men are shaking hands in front of a large American flag while jointly holding a framed certificate. The man on the left is wearing an olive green military flight suit with patches and a name tag, while the man on the right is wearing a dark green blazer with a yellow and green striped tie and an organizational emblem on the breast pocket. The certificate appears to be a 'Daedalians' award presented to 'Captain Brett DeVries'.

Major Brett DeVries is presented the Joe Foss Award for Excellence by Lt. Gen. (ret.) Douglas Owens, national commander of the Order of the Daedalians, March 3, 2018, at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Mich. DeVries was honored for successfully landing a damaged A-10 aircraft in which a system failure caused the aircraft's canopy to eject and the landing gear to lock in the up position. The incident happened during a training flight in Michigan July 20, 2017. The Order of the Daedalians was founded by World War I pilots to encourage military aviation excellence and to spur American patriotism. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Master Sgt. David Kujawa)
