Missouri Army National Guard liaison officers from Task Force 110 responded to a call of an overtop levee or possible breech on levee L550, located just west of Phelps City near the border with Nebraska. The LNOs coordinated with local authorities during the event. Guardsmen were posted near the levee access as a public safety precaution. In this photo, Levee L550 is overtopped in several areas and has deep holes with water pouring through. The Highway Patrol closed 136 Highway later in the day as water covered the road surface. The Missouri National Guard will continue to assist local authorities in keeping the citizens of Missouri as safe as possible until released by those authorities and Gov. Jay Nixon.
