ATLANTIC OCEAN (Feb. 6, 2018) Members of the small craft action team (SCAT) man .50 cal machine guns on the foc’sle of the guided-missile destroyer USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98) during an exercise. Forrest Sherman is underway as part of the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (HSTCSG) conducting a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX), which evaluates the strike group’s ability as a whole to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea, ultimately certifying the HSTCSG for deployment.
