    II Marine Expeditionary Force   

    CAMP DWYER, Helmand province, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan — Cpl. Daniel Ryan, an Olalla, Wash., native and a Light Armored Vehicle mechanic with 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, scoops desert sand from the top of an LAV underbelly protection kit prior to removing the bolts on the kit. Marines with 2nd LAR spent long hours in the evening, even working through sandstorms, to complete the LAV Principal End Item rotation.
